Customer is an international telecoms company operating in 13 countries and one of the world’s largest integrated telecommunications services operators providing voice and data services through a range of traditional and broadband mobile and fixed technologies headquartered in Amsterdam. As all big companies the Customer has many document workflow processes in use. With help of these processes company want to maximize time and cost savings for employees and clients. Some of workflow processes are automated by software tools, some – no.
Company has a lot of similar document workflow processes. Make a separate application for every process is a bad idea. So, managers decided to decrease labor and financial costs of creating these applications. Negotiation Engine is a solution to this problem. Technical personnel have a set of parameters and attributes. With help of these parameters they could set up the most of document workflows. For other workflows company developers could easily extend current functionality.

This structure is optimal for permission inheritance, settings store, performance and other reasons. Each site can store a lot of documents. That solves the problem of of large data volumes. Each document after the publication of living separate lives. He independently stores its metadata in data of permission users and information about all stages. Document workflow settings are stored in the form of documented xml-file. This approach is standard and allows you to extend the functionality in the future: new settings, visual representation etc.
Search of relevant information was one of the most time-consuming parts of daily working activities. To reduce the amount of time spent on search and dedicate it to actual work, we used a search engine — MS SharePoint Search. It allowed to search data spread across all sites. Full-text searching and rich web content indexing support, the flexible access system, meta-driven, previews, and other advanced capabilities helped find the right content timely and with ease.
Microsoft technologies are common in office place. Office staffs know very well Windows, Microsoft Office and other programs. So, OMERTEX in collaboration with the Customer specialists decided that Microsoft SharePoint Server is ideal software for customer goals. This platform combines various functions which are traditionally separate applications: intranet, extranet, content management, document management, enterprise social networking, enterprise search, business intelligence, workflow management, web content management, and an enterprise application store. All these features allow customer to implement needed custom software within a reasonable time.
Negotiation Engine is not completed project. Customer could easily extend functionality with new features.
